Eligibility & Which Paper to Choose

To teach both age groups, appear for both papers. Confirm your specific eligibility on the NCTE — Minimum Qualifications of Teachers page before applying — eligibility is verified later by the recruiting authority, not at exam entry. A score of 60% or above qualifies as a pass, and the certificate is valid for a lifetime with no cap on attempts.

Paper I (Classes I–V) — 150 MCQs, 150 marks, 2.5 hours, no negative marking:

The question paper is bilingual (Hindi/English). Candidates choose from 20+ regional languages for Language I and II, including Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Urdu, Punjabi, and more.

How to Apply — Step by Step

1. Log on to ctet.nic.in or cbse.gov.in and open "Apply Online."
2. Fill the authentication form — state, identity type, name, date of birth, gender exactly as per your Class X certificate.
3. Complete the application form — note your Registration/Application Number and set a password (8–13 characters, with uppercase, lowercase, a number, and a special character).
4. Upload photo & signature — JPG/JPEG only. Photo: 10–100 KB, 3.5×4.5 cm. Signature: 3–30 KB, 3.5×1.5 cm.
5. Pay the fee via debit card, credit card, or net banking.
6. Download and save the Confirmation Page for your own records — no need to send it to CBSE.

UP-TET

UPTET 2026 has already been conducted — the exam took place over three days, and the result is expected shortly. Here's where things stand:

UPTET follows the same two-paper structure as CTET — Paper I for Classes I–V, Paper II for Classes VI–VIII, 150 MCQs each, 2.5 hours per paper. Candidates who appeared should track their result directly on the official portal, since the exact declaration date hasn't been formally confirmed yet.

AP-TET

AP TET 2026 is currently underway — the exam is being conducted in a multi-day window right now. Here's the current status:

The exam is 150 marks per paper, 2.5 hours duration, conducted online. AP TET scores carry 20% weightage in the AP DSC (teacher recruitment) 2026 selection process, and the AP DSC 2026 notification itself is expected around October 2026 — so a good AP TET score matters directly for the recruitment round that follows.
